Name change on ILR

Post by Dwayne_B » Fri Sep 20, 2019 4:41 pm

Hi

I applied for a new ILR on Friday, 28 June 2019 after getting married and changing my surname.

My wife booked a trip for us to Marrakech in late NOV.

I figured that the new ILR would be in my hands way before that, but it's almost October and nothing yet..

So, worst case scenario, if the new ILR doesn't arrive in time before my flight, can I still use my old one, in my old name, so long as I take my marriage certificate/proof of name change with me on the trip???

My passport is already in my new name, so I guess that counts as ID but I imagine I would need a second.

Or is this wishful thinking and I absolutely need the new ILR before I can travel?

Thanks for any advice,
Dwayne

Travelling outside the UK during the process is equivalent as you are withdrawing your application.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
