Tier 2 General Visa extension for next 3 years

My tier2 general visa extension is due in December, i have few questions in my mind which i am sure will be answered here -

1. First time for tier2 general my company applied for a restricted COS and this time i believe it will be an unrestricted COS. Does company have to go for market test (RLMT) in case of extension ?
2. My understanding is that the start date on COS will be the last date of my current visa + 1 ?
3. I can understand COS validity is 3 months and some people suggested in other forums is i can apply 2 months and some suggested 3 months before the current visa expiry. Can anybody with experience suggest that?

You can apply within three months of tier 2 entry clearance expiry if you have a valid CoS. The CoS validity is for three months once issued.

Last question hopefully, Could you verify my the list of document required for extension ?

As per my understanding,

1. COS unrestricted
2. Passport/BRP
3. Showing funds in my account

Do we require following document, some people wrote in other forums ?
4. NI
5. Proof of knowledge of the English language
6. P60

Hi Wizards,

I have been on tier2 general visa for last 3 years and going to apply for extension.

I had an initial understanding that for t2 general visa, I can stay for 5 years and then probably for next stage.

But my company provided me a COS with work dates for next 3 years and that makes a total of 6years.

one thing I can understand from this is I have to pay 3 years IHS but do u think is there any issue with the Visa approval ?

You can hold a tier 2 general for a maximum period of 6 years.
