HSMP for Newborn baby

Post by manikalp » Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:35 pm

Hai friends,
I am on HSMP visa on 4th year and my wife is my dependant on HSMP. We both are working in UK for 4 years. My wife is planning to go to India for her delivery. How shall I take visa for my new born baby from India? How long it will take? If anybody can post an answer it will be great.
Thanks very much.

The subject line got me wondering :D . Something like "dependent visa for new born" would have been more appropriate and (such queries) should ideally be posted under General UK Immigration forum.

Anyways, the following should answer some of your concerns ...
1. Register your child's birth and get a registration certificate.
2. Apply for a Indian passport for your child.
3. Once you have the passport, apply for UK Entry Clearance at the nearest VFS office. You'll need to use VAF2 application from (double-check with VFS) and provide documentary evidence in support of the EC application (reading this will help).
4. You should expect to get the passport back from BHC within 15 working days.
