Hello
If the previous passport is lost, it's lost. See if you can get a police report for the loss so you can justify why it's not there.
The application seems really weak:
- Husband passed away
- No demonstrable travel history
- No revenue/assets of her own
So in nutshell, no strong economic or social ties to India. This is the first thing they are going to look at.
I am not claiming they will refuse the visa, but the points above will play against her.
Try to document relationship with other family members there.
If they feel she has stronger ties in the UK then in India, the risk of refusal goes to the roof.

Hi, many thanks for your response.
My mother is planning to travel with her granddaughter who is 10 years old...so she had to come back for her...wont they take this as strong family ties and that she will defn return back from UK.
Pls advise
Thanks

To validate your strong social ties, you have to leave them back in the country, not travelling with them.
But anyway, the 10 year old wouldn't affect the visa. If the stays behind, she is not a strong tie. If she comes, she can still come back with any adult.
You can't make the situation different really. Just build the strongest application you can and hope of the best.

Hello,
I would like to share good news with you all..
I submitted the documents as I had mentioned in my first message and both my mom and my niece got their visitor visas today.
The thing I understood is if you are genuine and do not deposit huge amounts just to show that you have enough balance, you will get the visa.
My mom didnt have any assets in her name and didnt show huge balance in her savings account.she had only 50000INR(£600).she submitted her FD deposit certificates and a letter from the bank regarding her monthly pension which is INR 1000(£10)...that's what she had and submitted as financial evidence..she got her visa in 10 working days..
Thank you and good luck to everyone who is awaiting or in the process of applying for uk visa
