Urgent: Determining if some of previous jobs can be considered as government jobs

Hello,

I am from India and applying for UK Tier 2 visa (sponsored by the employer).

As part of the application procedure, I'm asked whether I have ever had a government job. I have worked at IIT, Bombay (http://www.iitb.ac.in/) and TIFR, Mumbai (https://www.tifr.res.in/) in the past. I'm wondering if this will count as a government job.

Please note, that both these jobs lasted for 1 to 2 years and were purely contractual, where I worked on short term research projects. I am not sure whether this will be relevant, but mentioning it here in case it is.

I am using this forum for the first time and will greatly appreciate if any of you could help me out.
