Hello all, I’ve been a lurker on here for a while, but this is my first post and hope someone can help.
I’m looking into the 20 years Private Life and Long Residence route for an acquaintance and was wondering if anyone had a successful experience with it. Specifically interested in the following two points :-
1) what documentation did you provide to prove the continuous 20 year requirement? I’ve looked at the guidance and seen the examples they provide, eg Dr’s notes as well as showing evidence of meeting the requirement for every 12 month duration but was curious what other evidence the HO has found satisfactory
2) the passport of the acquaintance has long expired. It is a bit difficult to renew the passport as the embassy in the U.K., asks for a valid visa to renew the passport. At the same time, the right to remain visa also asks for a ‘valid‘ passport - hence a bit of a catch 22. My assumption is that by ‘valid’ it’s meant a passport which hasn’t run over its expiry date.
However, there is a provision on the HO application form to only provide the most recent passports. Has anyone had any experience with this in terms of how flexible the HO will be?
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to the responses.
