Tier 2 Visa Extension Questions

Hi all,
I’m currently applying for a tier 2 General visa extension (valid till December only) and my current team is looking to offer me a role which means I’ve to reapply once this visa gets approved.

The Visa I’ve had expired on the 16th sept but I’ve submitted the extension on 21st August

I’ve a few questions and would really appreciate it if anyone could share their experience/thoughts.

1) Can I cancel the current application and submit a new extended visa application? Will there be any complications?

2) Once it’s been approved, do I need to wait to receive my biometrics to apply for the second Tier 2 Visa Extension? Do I also need to wait to sign my contract first in order to apply for the COS?

3) What details do I need for the COS? This is so I can speed up the process on my side. I’m aware the cos application is every first week of the month (correct me if I’m wrong)

If you cancel your pending application, you become and overstayer as your last visa has already expired.

2) Once it’s been approved, do I need to wait to receive my biometrics to apply for the second Tier 2 Visa Extension? Do I also need to wait to sign my contract first in order to apply for the COS?

Ideally yes you need your BRP card as the form will ask these details. Signing your contract and getting a CoS are two separate issues, only the CoS relevant to visa application.

3) What details do I need for the COS? This is so I can speed up the process on my side. I’m aware the cos application is every first week of the month (correct me if I’m wrong)

An UNRESTRICTED CoS does NOT go to the monthly allocation meeting. This is ONLY for RCoS for application made OUTSIDE the UK. Please speak to your employer, they should know what is required to issue a CoS.
