I am a British Citizen via naturalization via Tier1 route.
My son got an ILR together with me in 2016, and his BRP card is due to expire in 2021.
Last 2.5 years my son went to study at university of our home country, with a view of doing a PhD or Masters here in UK.
Reasons behind choosing a university there were about it being free and also being very good for physics and maths. He comes back on breaks and hasn't been out of the uk for more than 6 months continuously apart from the initial wave of COVID where air-travel was disrupted (when he ended up being outside for 7 months).
I would like to understand
1) if studying at a university outside of UK affects my son's eligibility for replacement of BRP card
2) whether I need to disclose the fact of him studying abroad within the application
3) i seem to have a difficulty finding an 'evidence of continuous residence' for 2018 for him, wondering if that's going to be a big problem
4) the way it stands now there is no super-priority service for BRP replacements, the processing times are six months and they require for a person to stay within the UK the whole time of the application. Does anyone know if in practice the applications are served faster than that? Does it mean its going to be straight cancellation/refusal if he leaves the country while the application is in progress?
much appreciate your help
Thank you
