Newly arrived on Fiancé Visa, how can I get proof of address?

Post by Jakers » Fri Jan 15, 2021 9:30 am

My fiancé has moved to the UK on a fiancé Visa and we are due to get married in April.

I've done a bit of research and apparently the next step (Spouse visa) is going to require some documents showing proof of her connection to a UK address (proof that she is residing here).

My concern is that, as we have both moved into my mother's address, her name is not going to appear on any bills or statements in relation to the property.

She also cannot register to vote in the UK as she is Indonesian, and therefore is not of an eligible Nationality (British/Irish/EU/Commonwealth).

Lastly, when trying to apply to open a bank account for her, and register her at the local GP, they told us they required proof of address in order to set her up.

I feel like I'm going in circles with this :?
How can I get proof of address without already having proof of address?

It is not mandatory to provide cohabitation evidence when applying for fiancée visa. Just add a cover letter that you are switching from fiancée visa to FLR M for the first time and your leave was granted for 6 months so they don't expect you to have proof of cohabitation.
My opinions should not be constituted as an immigration or legal advice.
