Hello all,
I feel silly to ask (as it seems it should be simple), but I need some advice please.
I'm British, trying to bring my boyfriend over on an unmarried partner visa.
He's divorced from a previous marriage.
In the Marital Status drop down box on the application, the options are: Single, Married, Unmarried Partner, Civil Partner, Divorced, Widowed.
Now - should my partner select 'Divorced', or 'Unmarried Partner' as his option? He is both of those things.
He thinks that as we're not recognised by law yet (in this country at least. We do have a common law paper from Canada), that he should put divorced. However, as we've been living together for a couple of years in a serious relationship, I think it should be the other option. Especially seeing as the visa we are applying for is asking us to prove exactly that - that we are in a committed, albeit unmarried partnership.
If anyone knows the answer to this, or can give an opinion, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.
