Visitor visa delay

Hi guys,

I applied for a UK visitor visa from the USA on July 19th and submitted by biometrics on August 4th. I got an email on August 25th saying my application is under process by Visits UK and I should receive a decision within 3 weeks of submitting my biometrics. I then got another email on August 27th saying that my application had just been forwarded to the UKVI on August 27th. Does this mean my application only started being processed on August 27th? I was under the impression the processing should start when you submit your biometrics and in my case, that meant August 4th. If it takes 3 weeks then I should have received a decision email by August 25th but I haven't heard anything back other than those 2 emails. I am really worried because it has not taken over 4 weeks. Has anyone had a similar experience? Or is it possible there is a backlog and delays? Would really appreciate it if anyone with a similar experience could share or advise.
