What to do with a job letter?

If a Canadian employer was to offer you are job, do they just send the job letter to you so that you can add it to your application for a visa? Or MUST they send details of the job to the Human Resource and Social Development Canada (HRSDC)? How do you process a job letter? Can anyone please advice?
