Previous Earnings - in UK - Tax

Post by helptra » Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:34 pm

HI,

I am in UK since last 6 months, In my UK salary Slip, I get details of Tax deducted. WHile claiming points for previous earnings, AM I supposed to claim on the salary before tax? If yes (I guess yes) the bank statement will show different amount than the claimed.

Any suggestion by seniors on how one should calculate previous earnings?

Regards,
Tra

Assessment of previous earnings wrote:We assess your gross salary before tax. This also applies if you are self-employed and draw a salary from your business.

If you earned the money in a country with no tax system, we will consider your total earnings for the period. If you are self-employed, your earnings are assessed on the profits of your business before tax. If you have a share of a business, your earnings are assessed on your share of the business's net profits before tax.
