Tier 1 General- HSMP extension earnings supporting documents

I'm currently in UK under HSMP and expecting to extend my visa in few months time.
According to Home office,UK Border Agency website, I do undestand that I have to apply through Tier 1 General-point based system for my visa extension.

I'm currenly a salaried employee and also self employed as a Sole trader.
I could not find in Home office,UK Border Agency website ,what supporting documents that I do have to provide as a Sole trader to prove my previous earnings.
I would like to get clear idea about what supporting documents that I do have to provide inorder to prove my previous earnings under a Sole trader(self employment).

could you please kind enough to give me clear details on above request

Perhaps official tax documents and/or letter from accountant, etc.?

It always always better to speak to an accountant before applying...There are stutory requirement for Limited companies as well as self employed (sole trader)...and it easy to mistake one for another ....pls am not an accountant just sahring experience
