Passport expiry - application under processing

Hello everyone,

I applied visa for my wife and son during Christmas last year (2021). Biometrics taken on 05-Jan-2022 in India. The guidance says the application will be decided in 12 weeks. This week, I received an email from home office, the processing will take some more time because of the war and to accommodate refugee applications.

My son's passport expires on the 08-June-2022.

What happens if my son's passport expires before they decide on the application? Please advise.
