Can a stamp 4 WAB card be used to travel from Ireland to UK?

Post by stormcrow » Mon Jul 11, 2022 11:56 am

Hi

I applied for a visitor's visa to the UK a week ago for a visit I'm hoping to attend at the end of July.

I have a South African passport and I'm currently residing in the Republic of Ireland due to the fact I have a Stamp 4 WAB card granted to me by Article 50 TEU because I have a British family member.

I was told by a friend who has the same South African passport and Stamp 4 card that she is able to fly to and from the UK without any issue using just these 2 documents because they were granted to us under the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

Is this true?

I've contacted the British Embassy in Dublin and nobody seems to know how to help me.

Thanks

You would need a British visitors visa to allow you to visit the UK for a short time. Same way British spouse with a Spouse visa need an Irish visa to enter Ireland.
Your current permission allows you to stay in Ireland, not visit or stay in the UK.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Having British family member still requires you to get some kind of a clearance from authorities; people with British spouses still have to apply for a visa to go to the UK, for example.
Speaking of visa as well, I applied for a UK visitor visa in late May, no response after more than a month. Unless you paid for priority service, chances for you to get a decision before the end of the month seem to be slim, unfortunately.
