Child First British Passport Referee

Hi All

Quick Question

For one of the referees for my child (3yo), I am thinking of using the same person as who was referee for his citizenship application. The only issue is:

1. The person is living overseas
2. The persons passport is expired

The person is still a British citizen and in a valid profession (Accountant). The above status was accepted for the citizenship referee but wondering if it will also be accepted for child passport application.
