Marriage visitor visa

Post by Jen_E » Fri Aug 19, 2022 1:34 am

Hi everyone - my partner is currently in the UK working on a tier 2 work visa for the past 3.5 years. We've basically been seeing each other by me getting tourist visas and him coming back to our home country for visits. Its a bit much doing this so we want to get married in the UK - I'd like to get a marriage visitor visa to do the ceremony in the UK with most of our friends, then leave and come apply as a dependant on his tier 2 work visa. Does this seem plausible? He is worried that UKVI would be suspiscious of me not going back home after we've just gotten married. I understand that but... I want to believe its possible - thoughts?

Nothing wrong with that. You've been coming over on a UK visitors visa, so that a plus. The only addition you get with the marriage visa is that it allows you to get married here.
In life, everything depends on whose table it lands. It's not a one size fits all.

If it doesn't work, then you can get married in your home country, apply for a dependant visa and have a small ceremony with your friends and family when you get here. Some sort of marriage blessing.

If you never try, you never know if you'd get it or not.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
