Postdated Visa / EC Refusal

Post by Ali_Sch » Sat Mar 12, 2005 11:53 am

Dear Freinds,

I contacted Saudi British embassy for EC, i was intending to apply within 2 days, but now they told me that they are not issuing postdated visa in any case. I tried to convience them but in vain.

My HSMP approval ll expire on 10 April, three months from 11 Jan.
My employer ll relase me by 7th of May.

If i apply for EC now by 2 April, ll it cause major problem if i lose one month of visa by staying here?

PLease advise what should i do.

Regards

It has been stated many times that there is no specific time to depart after EC. One month is not a long period. You dont know how much time your case will take to get EC after applying. Dont be panic, just apply for your EC.

Dear Mobig,

Thanks for your reply. I am confused as I have to submit the wirtten resignation atleast 45 days before leaving, this I would like to do after getting my EC/ visa stamped.

Please can you give some more detail or any link,, regarding implication of losing ur month & 1.1/2 visa by not landing to UK.

Thanks..

Ali_Sch,
When they issue the EC, it covers one year, at the end of which time you must apply for FLR. So you don't have to enter the UK as soon as your EC is issued, you can enter anytime for up to a year.

My EC was just issued for May 2005 (they were kind enough at the Los Angeles consulate to post-date it for the day before my scheduled flight to the UK). Now I have until May 2006 to get established and get a job so I can apply for FLR by the time it expires.

The only caution is that the less time you have in the UK during your approved year, the less time you have to get established and find a job. In your case, it's only a month and a half, and so really shouldn't be a problem. Good Luck!

Unfortunately the issue of post dated EC is not consistent from embassy to embassy, I would say wait until the latest possible time (don’t go on the last day though), and when you go ask them again, you might get a different answer depending on who you speak to and what mood they are in that day. And as already stated you don’t have to enter the UK on the very first day of your visa, just go whenever you can, the issues of extension and ILR will just have to be dealt with when the time comes
