Name Issue Naturalisation

Post by Lina1234 » Sun Feb 19, 2023 4:24 am

Hi all,

I am applying for naturalisation but I’m worried I might have an issue. All my official documents have a different surname than my degree certificate as I changed my surname to align with my step dads when I was 3 and moved to the UK. So all my school records, doctors records, drivers licence etc have my changed name but all my foreign documents eg Passport, BRP residency permit etc have my original surname and this is the one I have used to apply as I was going to change name once I had my British passport.

I have attached my deed poll letter and my parents marriage certificate and a cover letter explaining that I have always gone by my step dads name

Does anyone know if this likely/unlikely to be accepted?

Thanks

There's a part in the form that requires you to name your aliases. Add your names there. Continue with the name that has already worked for you on your BRP and passport.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
