10 Year Visitor Visa, but passport expires in 3 years

My mom has been spending the summer with us for the last 7 years. Every year she has applies for a 6 year visa.

She would now like to apply for a 10 year visa but her passport expires in 3 years.

Can she apply for the 10 year visa with this passport?

She can apply for it with the current passport,.when it expires, she will have to have both passports in her possession when making the journey to UK.

Yes, it's the norm. She needs a valid visa and a valid passport. They can be on the same document or a combination of 2. Normal practice around the world.
