Supplement Income with a UK skilled worker visa

Post by sqm » Wed Jan 31, 2024 11:29 am

Hello,

I have applied for a UK skilled worker Visa and my main income stream would be from that. To earn more as a side hustle, I've been receiving from my own blogs so my question is that; is it OK to receive income from blogging? The income is coming from programs like Google Adsense, affiliate programs etc.

From what I've read so far, I understand that it's okay to receive supplementary income as long as it's similar in nature to my sponsored job, and the work would be less than 20 hours a week. I'm confused because the UKVI website says you can either work in another job for the same job occupation code or for your own business. It does not further specifies the business.

Does anyone see any issue if I continue to receive my blogging income while I work with a skilled worker visa?

It does clearly state the requirement. Best not to just read one sentence in isolation without reading the rest. I don't believe 'blogging' would qualify.
You can also work up to 20 hours a week in another job or for your own business, as long as you’re still doing the job you’re being sponsored for.

Your work must be either:

in the same occupation code and at the same level as the job you’re being sponsored for
in a shortage occupatio

Thank you for the response.
I actually had read the whole thing and of course I said that my main income would be from the job that I'm being sponsored for.
My main question was about working for own business. There is not much clarification on that and if self-employment is not allowed on a skilled worker visa then what business they refer to?

would appreciate if you respond about that.
