Own company director and supplementary work on skilled worker visa

Post by Rtodi39 » Thu Jul 30, 2026 5:51 pm

I was hoping I could get some advice from you.

I am currently on the skilled worker visa, SOC code 2423 (Management consultant).

A week ago, I incorporated a private limited company - dormant at the moment - no corporate bank account either - no activities - with SIC Code 68100 - buying and selling of own real estate - as it's just a smarter way to buy property through a company.

I am currently the sole shareholder and director, but I am concerned that my holding this director position will cause issues later with ILR, given that the rules changed from 2025.

I am happy to resign and be a shareholder only… but what is the best course of action? I can always appoint a trusted friend to be a director - and do any minimal day-to-day on my behalf.
I had seen that “Director/CEO” are also “high-skilled” jobs - are there any workarounds? Is there any way I can retain an active director role? I was told I can be the Ultimate Beneficial Owner of the company - but let me know.

At some point, I was wondering if I could incorporate a separate management consulting firm and invoice the property company for my services - but I think that is also a hassle, given I would have to maintain timesheets, and my role is very much planning to be passive.

Any advice would be appreciated.
