Family funds advise requested

Post by msk32asu » Mon May 04, 2009 11:55 am

Greetings,

I'd appreciate if someone could please advise me about:

1. I have 3 kids and wife as dependents in my home country, and I have been in the UK for 5 months now and working on Tier 1 ( I got approval under the hsmp but visa on tier 1 last year). Do I need to show 1600 per dependent or 500 per dependent for my family's visa.

I will be really thankful for any advice.

Best

Dependant of a Tier 1 migrant

37. If the Tier 1 migrant is outside the United Kingdom or has been present in the United Kingdom for less than 12 months, each family member of the Tier 1 migrant must show that he/she, the Tier 1 migrant, or (for children) his/her other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom has at least £1600 to support him/her; this is in addition to any funds the Tier 1 migrant needs to prove he/she has enough money to support himself/herself.

Re: family funds for tier 1 (transitional)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but my situation is a little different in the sense that I had approval on HSMP and got visa under Tier 1. I think they call it the Tier 1 (Transitional Arrangement). I also paid old fees for visa instead of the new tier 1 fees. That's why I was wondering if I will have to go for the 500 pound per dependent instead of 1600 pound. Any ideas on this ?

Best Regards,

Thanks for the reply. It appears that I will have to show 1600 per dependent after all bu they on the visa website it says I'll have to pay 250 per visa and not the new 6xx fees. Well there is one benefit of transitional arrangement but (no offense) I still have doubts about the dependent's funds. Someone noted that it is 5xx for tier 1 transitional arrangement.

Please don't mind me asking, has anyone gone through this before?

You paid reduced fee because you had already paid some fee at the time of HSMP approval. How much did you show for you own maintenance fund requirement?

dude to be on the safe side u should do 1600 per dependent rather than getting rejected by some case worker and get into the hassle of appealing process.
Do your best and go for it.

It's better to be safe, you are right - 1600 it is then :) The long wait continues :) Thank you all for the advise, really appreciate it.
