fiance visa for us citizen whos already been refused entry

my girlfriend is a us citizen, im a uk citizen, we,ve been in a relationship for over 2 years now. She came here as a vistor last july and was granted entry until january, unfortunatly, we went to turkey for a week at the end of september and she was refused entry because the immigration officer beleved she was planning to settle
Anyway, she has decided that she wants to move here to be with me and we would like to apply for a fiance visa.
My question is, is this likely to be turned down because of the refused entry incident. Am i correct to say if we were to marry in the us and then apply for a spouse visa, she cant be refused?
Any advise would be very much appreciated, and also is it best to pply ourselves or use a solicitor to process the application.

Obtaining a spouse visa is cerainly not a foregone conclusion. You have to be able to support and accommodate her without recourse to public funds for a start. The refusal should not count against her though as long as she did not try and practice deception.
