ILR or registration as BC for newborn??

Post by hert » Mon Jul 20, 2009 3:56 pm

Hi All,

I have browsed through this forum extensively but got mixed messages only, so am listing my question here to seek expert/members comments.

Can anyone comment on following:
A Total of 4 applicants
. Main applicant+ Dependents (Spouse+another child (~5yr)- already on LTR) - ILR due Aug-09. Appointment already booked.
. One child (Newborn) born in UK

Now the easy option:
Option 1 - We apply for ILR for child born in UK while applying for ILR for us and then go for Naturalisation together. No hassles for applying separately but will need end up paying more fee (how much?).

However, can someone his/her experience or knowledge whether it would be worthwhile going for following option:
Option 2 - We apply for ILR only for US and go for registration of newborn as BC once ILR is granted. Followed on by BC application process for 3 of us 1 yr after getting ILR. (Per UKBA site, the newborn will have entitlement for registration as BC)

What could be the pros and cons for these options 1 & 2?

Thanks.

Option1: seems logical. Don't think you will have to pay extra fee when you apply for dependents along with the main applicant. You can get visa for all of your family members in one go.No hassle of chasing appointments etc. You anyway have to go through the complete process, so why go twice?

Thanks chetanojha.

I guess I have posted this request twice on this forum. Anyway, just to clarify that I would need to pay £50 extra for each dependent in ILR application. However, considering all the hassles and possible saving money while applying for BC, option 1 does sound better.
THanks
