ILR documents....please help

Post by pg5 » Fri Jul 24, 2009 10:50 pm

Almost in 6 month’s time I am ready to apply for my ILR. I am on unmarried partner’s visa. I have collected lots of documents as evidence but except county council Tax bills, all documents are on separate names (for same address). Just want to know that “is it essential to have all documents to be on joint namesâ€

I think the best indication I can give is that when my own wife applied for her ILR, absolutely nothing was in joint names, but nevertheless the application was granted ... no problem!

The letter? I suppose if they now ask for it, supply it! But what is there to say? Nothing is in joint names, so we are supplying documents addressed to one person only!

Hi John, thanks for your kind reply. I also applied for unmarried partner visa with no document with joint names, but I was thinking may be this time rules have changed. As visa rules are becoming tough in these days. By the way when you have applied for your wife...in near future??

My husband applied for ILR in February this year and got granted it five weeks later at the end of March. We had hardly anything in joint names - only our tenancy agreement and a joint savings account (which hardly had any money going into it but was only opened for the purpose of receiving a statement addressed to both of us for ILR!).

I wouldn't worry too much as long as u have enough letters addressed to you individually at the same address.
