passport missing at Los Angeles UK Consulate

Post by arun.matcha » Wed Aug 19, 2009 12:38 am

Hi All,

I have applied tier1 visa from US. I have strange scenario. I have my administrative review approved and was asked to send my passport for entry clearance. I have sent my passport along with original approval letter to Los Angeles UK General consulate through USPS Priority mail. I have received the USPS delivery confirmation after 2 days. I didnt receive any acknowledgement after that and after 4 weeks, I tried to post queries in world bridge services but of no use. Finally I managed to ask my cousing to go physically to the consulate general and enquire abt the same. They told that they have not received my passport. Further I have sent enquiry by post and sent an email also. I have not received any reply. How do I approach now? Can some one suggest how to go about it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards
Arun

Follow up with USPS. They should have had someone at the Los Angeles UK General consulate sign for receiving the documents. Then contact the Los Angeles UK General consulate again with this information.

Unfortunately I forgot to take the signature option in USPS. I just took the delivery confirmation. USPS is coming back with the same answer, they have delivered so cant be tracked who has received. I have lodged a complaint not sure how long will that take. Any one knows the contact numbers for UK consulate general customer service?

How can the USPS prove that a package had actually been delivered?

Hello friends,

I have got nothing from either USPS or UK Visa. USPS says they have delivered and UK guys confirmed they have not received. Now I have applied for a new passport, [cant wait for too long without passport],

-What is the process of updating my new passport number with UK Embassy?
-Do they consider the new passport with the current approval letter?
-How long is the approval letter is valid? I am still yet to get the passport.

Please help me with the proces.

Regards
Arun

It should be simple. You used USPS Priority mail, it should have a number on it, to track it. And USPS confirm that they have delivered to UK consulate general. Normally, mail is delivered once a day, in some cases more than once. So you should check which day they delivered the mail to UK consulate. Get a letter from USPS that they have delivered the mail to UK consulate on that particular day. Go to consulate and show them the letter and track the person who was responsible for receiving mail on that particular day. I believe your passport should be hidden under some files in UK consulate. I had a similar expirence before, just with the help of refrence number on my post, I was able to track down the postman who delivered and the person who received (normally they know each other). You should not give up pursuing that passport.
