Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted, but I promised I would check back in.
I was approved in February, and after taking a couple of months to sort out my affairs in the US, relocated to Scotland in mid-May. I was fortunate enough to get a couple of telephone interviews before I left the US, and I had a great specialist recruiter assisting me. I had a flurry of interviews once I arrived and received a good offer. I begin my new job under HSMP on Monday.
This experience has been remarkably smooth so far, with the only exception being opening a UK bank account. Since I have very good internet banking access with my US bank, that has not caused huge problems, yet. I know many people have had negative experiences when they have come to the UK, but I thought it would be helpful and encouraging to those considering the move to hear that this can be a really positive experience. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered advice to me during the application process!
