Passport validity requirement for Tier 1 visa

Post by aaj123 » Sun Sep 13, 2009 8:53 am

My passport expires in June 2010. Can I still apply for a Tier 1 visa now using this same passport?

Is there any rule in the Tier 1 guidelines that says that the passport must be valid for a minimum period of so many more months as on the date of application?

Six months validity as on date of application is sufficient.

However, if you have some time on your hands, I would suggest that you apply for a fresh passport before applying for Tier 1 (you can do this from 12 months before expiry of passport). This way it will save you the hassle of keeping track of both passports from June 2010.
Please do not send me any Private Messages as I do not check these.

Not a bad idea..
because if u go with the passport having more than 6months passport validity get Tier1 done on the same and have to carry both the passports once u get then passport..
at that stage there will be an extra charge (120GBP) to tranfer the visa from old to new if u want to just carry 1passport.. (btw i carry 3 - 120 is too much for me...)

You can also extend the validty of the same passport(if you chose not to get new passport). This will be same as new passport with extended validity.
