Wife changing Last Name

Post by pkumar » Tue Nov 10, 2009 6:33 am

Experts,

My wife is planning to change her last name (husbands last name) and is currently using her maiden name. It's been few years we have been married. What are the things to take care. Kindly Advice:

1> She will be making a name change in Passport.
2> Change names by calling utility company(utility bills she pays), Council, her employer.
3> Now what about her visa. can she carry old and new passport but names will not match. Does she HAS TO transfer visa to new passport (which has her new last name) ?
4> Also is there anything else we need do to. I guess all her education certificates, old employers, etc will have her maiden name and i am assuming we will have to show marraige certificate everwhere we using old certificates?

PLEASE let me know if there is ABSOLUTELY anything i am missing or simpler way to handle it.

Thanks!!!
