Applying Tier 1 from Tier 4

Can I apply for Tier 1 if I am under Tier 4 student visa.

If so, how do I show that I have previous earning as obviously as a fulltime student I do not have a fulltime job.

Student are allowed to switch to Tier 1 General. However they are not allowed to back date their earnings. So effectively most of the full time student are disqualified.
