explaining extra expenses

Hi

In some of the months of bank statements i provided i spent more than the amount i stated. These were one of expenses when my fiancee and her mother came to visit such as engagement party, solicitor fees and also some problems i had with my car. i was told just to write on the bank statement under the amount what the expenses were.

if i do this will it be ok, do i have to provide any reciepts cus i dnt have mny of them. has anyone got a better idea to explain
