I am currently on an HSMP visa which expires in April. I will be making an HSMP to Tier 1 switcher application around that time, but 1 thing has changed.
I got married in October, and my wife currently lives in India. I haven't made an independant application for her to join me yet, as it would only be valid until the expiry of my current visa in April. The application fee for a dependant is £465 at the moment, and it isn't economical to do it now for what would essentially have been a 6 month visa (she already has one of those).
Get ur wife's intial application once ur renewal is done to save double fees (initial+renewal fees)
According to my guidance notes, it costs £50 per dependant if they are part of the main application (my renewal application) as opposed to the £465 for a separate dependant application.
£50 is when both the applicants are on the same visa status and then goes for renewal...
My first question is, can I make a renewal application for myself, with my new dependant on it, or will she need to make an independant application in India to join me as my dependant first (since she is a 'first-time' addition)? I understand that subsequent applications will definitely be made jointly, but I'm not sure about the first one.
My second question is, does she need to physically be in the UK at the time of my application (if I can include her in my renewal), or can I just ask her to send me her passport for the application? and then send it back to her when it's approved so she can join me then.
- you can not do this way, intital applicant shd go through the EC process
In anticipation of your responses, my thanks in advance,
Kishen
PS: I should add that I sent an email to UKBApublicenquiries at ukba.gsi.gov.uk on the 19th but have not had a response from them yet.
On your above statement, my only concern would be visa dates. If I were to make a renewal application now for a visa that expires on 15 April 2010, would my next visa be valid until 15 April 2013 (3 years if I'm switching from HSMP to Tier 1) or will it expire earlier, say in February 2013 because I made my application earlier?try to apply now so as HO accepts applications even 3-4months before current visa expiry
I can not Guarantee on the Visa extension date.. but as far as i saw from all the people who applied 2-3months earlier got their extensions from the current visa expiry.. and i think if you apply around 1st-2nd week of Feb.. i am sure it will be same for you.. goodluck..kishen wrote:Ramesh;
Many thanks for the speedy response. I did not know that she needed to make a fresh EC application first. This definitely gives me more clarity.

If the expiry date is definitely the current expiry date + the visa period awarded, then I have no further cause for concern and can make my application immediately. Otherwise, I'd better wait for March or April before I make my application.

she will be charged only17000rs for dependant visa as your hsmp holder as of now.

u cant add ur wife as as dependant to ur current extn as she is not in UK.
My first question is, can I make a renewal application for myself YES, with my new dependant on it -- NO, or will she need to make an independant application in India to join me as my dependant first (since she is a 'first-time' addition)? YES U WILL NEED TO PAY AROUND 50000RS FOR TIER 1(GENARAL) DEPENDANT I understand that subsequent applications will definitely be made jointly, but I'm not sure about the first one.
