ILR - When to apply

Post by xyz123 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 12:39 pm

Hi

I was a student here and joined a company in December 2005. Prior to starting the job I had 1 year work visa under then Science and Engineering Graduates scheme. My company took my work permit on 5th March 2006 (from Uk, without me leaving the country, if that matters !).

My understanding is that i can apply for ILR in person after 5th March 2011. Can someone confirm it is correct. I know SEGS is not considered for ILR. I just want to check that 28 days in advance applicaiton rule does not apply to personal applications.

thx

What does that mean?
What is the date of issue of the visa that you were granted then? Is it 5-Mar-06??

A visa is stamped on the passport, not a work permit. Assuming that the issue date of the visa is 05-Ma-06 and you were in UK when this visa was stamped, you qualify for ILR on 05-Mar-2011.

The application must not reach UKBA more than 28 days before you become eligible to apply (be it by post or in person).
