EEA2 change to Tier 1

EEA2 change to Tier 1

I'm holding EEA2 at the moment. Unfortunately my marriage with my partner has come to an end. My current situation can fit into Tier 1 for high skill worker nicely, but I've heard that I have to return to my home country to switch to Tier1.

Does anybody know the fact of it please? Do I really have to go all the way back to my own country to apply Tier1?
