Got my HSMP designated job at last (Chemical field)

Post by viren68 » Mon Oct 24, 2005 9:56 pm

Hello Friends,

After much struggle and hue and cry at last, today I got a verbal YES from one UK employer to join them next week.

Agnipath, Agnipath ,Agnipath ( Fireway, Fireway, fireway)

I was doing some temporary work for the last three months and the employer was depositing my Tax and was giving me salary slips.

The problem is that I have not declared this job to my new employer.
The agency has asked me for the P-45 form. I told that I have not yet worked in UK.

Then they told me to get P-46 form from the local job centre office.

Please explain to me what is the story of these P-45 and P-46 froms.
Not declaring my current job, what implication is it going to
affect me.

This is urgent please.

I have come a long way from applying to HSMP july 2004, taking EC july 2005 and arrival in London and then aggressive search, many failures and then finally one YES.

It is very very difficult to explain to a British employer of your skills in the Chemical Engineering field.

Experienced persons please advise me

Viren

Viren, the employer has got that wrong. You don't get a P46 from the "local job centre office"! Your employer hands you the form to complete!

The procedure is that if the new employer can't or won't hand in a form P45, given out by their old employer, then a form P46 needs to be completed, handed to the employer, and then submitted to HMRC by that employer.

If the new employer is simply unaware that they need to hand you the form P46, and they don't know how to get hold of such a form, let me know and I shall supply a PDF for you to print out.

John,

Is this possible not to declare ur current odd job when getting the proper hsmp designated job? Does it harm in any way at the end of tax year if u dont handover the p45 form to ur new employer.

Two questions there. Firstly declare odd jobs to who? Not sure what you mean.

Secondly the tax situation. Eventually all your tax records will get pulled together but not handing in a form P45 to the new employer when you change jobs means that will take a bit longer. Also it will tend to mean that the non-cumulative system will operate on PAYE for longer than would have been the case. But any tax overpaid will end up getting repaid later on.

Does it really matter if the "proper" employer is aware that you have been doing some fill-in jobs? Is that really an issue?

i mean to say that if i dont want to declare the new IT employer that i had been a odd worker, does that hiding of information cause any legal or tax penalty to me.

As long as no tax form completed by you has inaccurate information then there will not be a problem. But as regards the form P46, absolutely no problem you ticking the Statement B .... "This is my only or main job." ... assuming of course that you have already ceased any other job.

After the end of the tax year any Tax Return must of course mention all your income.

Viren, OK, click below :-

Form P46

After you have completed the first section you should hand it to the new employer to complete the rest and then forward to HMRC.

From the information you have posted, all you need to do is tick Statement B, sign and date it, then hand it over. That assumes you have already stopped any other employment.

Dear Mr. John,

Thanks very much for the link to P-46 form.

I just want to ask why do big companies in UK take so long to send the contract of employment. I was supposed to join them the comming week but the agency acting on my behalf phoned to them and subsequently informed me that the company is right now busy in formulating the contract and busy doing the salary calculations as this is a permanent position.

Subsequently joining the company is changed to the next week.

The interview was very good and the agency had conveyed YES to me.
Also told me to keep all the documents and relavant testimonials ready with me.
Why this behaviour??

Comments please.
