I am married to a British Citizen but have overstayed.

Post by a_and_b » Sat Jul 17, 2010 7:02 pm

I am married to a British Citizen, we were married less than a year ago. I had overstayed my student visa at the time we were married. We applied for a Citificate of Approval and were successful. During in the application period my passport was retained by Home Office. We have no children and no plans to have any in the close future. He works and i also work although i am contributing national insurance and tax my employer is unaware i my visa has expired.

What are my options?
Will i face a madatory ban if i leave the UK to apply from my home country (Nigeria)?
Is there a way i can apply from the UK?

Has anyboby been in this situation previously?

Many advise would be appreicated?
