Tier 1 visa stamped, when to enter UK

Post by uckocak » Mon Sep 27, 2010 2:04 pm

Dear members,

Hope you're well.

My brother just got his Tier 1 stamped by 16 Sep 10. It is valid until 14 Sep 12. Question is, when he MUST enter UK latest.

I am thinking ahead about ILR. you know he has to complete 5 years here. if he enters say in October, he will not be able to complete 5 years with this visa stamped. What is the solution to this.

After Sep 2012, he will have 1 extension to 2015. Can he have another extension further to this? I know it will cost money but it doesn't matter now.

Many thanks,
Kind regards
Utkan

Assuming ILR / settlement rules do not change before 2015, he must then enter UK within 28 days of the visa being issued (i.e. - within 28 days from 16-Sep-10).

Under current rules, applying for settlement is the individual's choice. But this may not be true if probationary citizenship laws are introduced.

thanks a lot for the quick reply.

I saw some of your messages about Probationary citizenship.

I came to UK with Work permit in April 2006 and changed to Tier 1 at July 2007. Do you think Probationary citizenship rules will ever affect me or am I going to be able to apply to ILR by Apr-11 and citizenship by Apr-12? Or is there going to be a different case?

A friend of mine told me that Cameron is about to make announcements in April 11 and that will affect everyone on the citizenship rules, even you have ILR by then... scary...

Sorry that i did not have time to read all your messages, most probably you already answered such questions 100 times. thanks for your patience.

Kind regards, Utkan

You'll know, as everyone else, when the announcement is made to introduce the new rules and detailed information published.

Last heard, the present govt. appears to be reviewing the probationary citizenship rules. No one knows as yet whether probationary citizenship rules will be implemented, or when and, if implemented, whether there will be changes incorporated to the law(s) and what those changes may be.
