Re: Exceptions for Notarised Document?

Hi,

My Visa is about to expire and I intend to apply for another category of Visa which is the HSMP since I qualify for it.

I have put all my documents together except for a photocopy of the tax clearance I paid in Nigeria to the Lagos State Board of Inland Revenue for the year 2004 and 2005. I misplaced it somehow and felt so bad about that because of how important it is. The HSMP team at the HO will not accept photocopies and still insists that all photocopies that must be presented have to be notorised. This is confusing!

I'm making this enquiry in other to know if a notarised photocopy of the tax clearance can be accepted with Official Letter from Employer and Payslips on Offical Letterheaded paper of my employer. Do I stand the chance of getting the claimed point even with only these 3 proves: Letter from Employer, Payslips on Company Letterheaded and Notarised copy of Tax Clearance.

In addition to the above, should I get a Police Report, Sworn Affidafit to the loss of the original of the tax clearance since all effort to get it had proved abortive?

NOTE: I'm applying from within the UK, I'm on a contract for 3months here with our sister company deploying a solution for BT. But my wages are still paid in Nigeria anyway, so I just have to show the wage slips from nigeria office and a letter of reference from them stating that I've been working for about 2yrs and 3months with them. Let me also know you guys view about this ...

Hi Allta

1. I hope some member will clarify about the notorised copy of the tax clearance certificate. I presume that u lost the original, but somehow have a photocopy. I think it can be used, while making cross reference to employers certificate.

2. I believe you can obtain a new tax clearance certificate from your nigerian tax office.

3. If not, you can consider filing a freash tax return and obtain a new acknowledgment.
