Switching from Tier 2 to Tier 1: how long do I have?

Post by aplicante » Thu Nov 18, 2010 12:36 am

Hi - two questions:

1. does anyone know how long after my employment terminates (i.e. assuming Tier 2 will no longer valid) do I have before I submit my application to Tier 1?
Of course the best would be to apply BEFORE the Tier 2 becomes invalid, but I read somewhere you have 28 days ogf a grace period?

2. can I start working during this grace period (i.e. after my Tier 2 expires but before my Tier 1 is granted, i.e. while waiting for the Tier 1)

Would appreciate any responses.

Thanks!

IMHO, you can apply for Tier 1 (General) from within the UK up until the day you have legal right to remain in the UK. See also If your job ends? and double-check with with UKBA.

No.
