Temporary residence permit for infant

Hi,

I am on a UK work permit visa but had my baby in the US. I did not apply for entry permit for my baby due to visa about to expire in US. At UK port of entry I was questioned why I did not apply from US; I explained to them my husband live in US and I might travel back to US to apply from there. He was given 6 months stay on his US passport.

Due to work and other reasons I was not able to travel back to US so decided to apply here for my baby.

The HO has written me asking for original copy of my husband's passport, his whereabouts and details of contacts.

I dont understand - I am solely responsible for my baby and he is only abt 6 months old. I can not provide his passport cos he lives in US.

Can someone pls help.

NB - My husband has a spouse dependant UK visa cos he used to live in UK with me.
