Successful visa , tax return not filed.

Post by anirban_paul » Sun Jan 30, 2011 1:45 pm

I got my Tier 1 general last year. My application was successful by showing a self employment income of 3000 gbp with rest from permanent. It’s been 1 year, I have had no contact/letters from HMRC regarding my self employment/UTR(for 3000 GBP), I am not sure If I was registered by my employer (not permanent) for self employment.

I would like to know if I should contact HMRC or leave it if no correspondence received from them and if left as it is will this affect any of my future application, like extension/visa post marriage/inviting parents etc.

Advice much appreciated

Many thanks.

Your employer has nothing to with your self-employment activities. Self-employment registration must be done by the individual concerned, and the individual is responsible for complying with HMRC regulations with respect to his/her self--employment activities.
