Extension of HSMP on account of medical reasons

Post by iimckastud » Fri Mar 10, 2006 3:09 pm

Hi all,

Would really appreciate a response on the below.
I got my HSMP in Sep 2005 and EC on Dec 9,2005 which will expire on Dec 9,2006. (BTW I got my EC without any interview probably because I have visited UK 3 times officially for work and once on a 3 month work permit spopnsored by my bank).
I am currently based in India.

I was planning to go to UK in Feb Mar 2006, HOWEVER, I have been diagnosed with a serious illness whose treatment may not end before Sep Aug- Sep 2006. Which means I will have only 3 months left. Would the Home office renew my FLR on Dec9.2006 IF
1) I start working in OCT 2006
2) I get an offer to work in the UK by that time and based on my genuine medical problems.

I am really in a fix on what to do, Since my Doctor has advised me not to travel for the next 4 months at least.

Would appreciate responses from the adminstrators or any one who has faced a similar problem. I would not like to Lose my current HSMP status since this in the under '28 category' and it would be definitely difficult to get it again in the OVER 28 category if I apply next year.

Looking forward to some nice responses which can help me out of this fix.

Thanks

You are cutting it a bit too close for comfort. You could cite your health issues and that will be taken into consideration. Normally if you come in so late into the country, you will not get a 3 year extension but an extension of another year. You also have to bear in mind that with 3-4 months to go for your extension, you will also have to start looking for a job which may not turn out to be as straight forward.

Re- Extension of HSMP

Post by abbythebanker » Sat Mar 18, 2006 9:14 am

Wazir,

Thanks for the response. I am OK with the home office extending the approval only for another year. However, are we sure they would do the same. Some people said, its my bad luck that this illness has not allowed me to in time and that I may have to make a fresh HSMP application (which may take a few years as I am over 28.

Thanks
Abi
