would bein unemployed affect my application 4 naturalization

Post by forwardever » Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:16 am

Hello all,
I was wonderin if being unemployed for 2years would affect my right to british citizenship...I havent been working for the past 2yrs but my wife is employed and works full time...the reason why i havent been workin was 1, we have a 2yrs old baby so i have always been home takin care of her 2, i am a day trader i trade currency from home on a spreadbet account which is tax free but income has not been stable as sometimes i win and sometimes i loose..my wife claims TC WC and CB and on the HM revenue form i decleared to be self employed 2yrs ago but i havent been payin tax and NI as what i do is tax free and also its like gambling sometimes i win and sometimes i loose so its not stable and I'm strugglin to make profit... i was wondering if it would make sense to call the HM REVENUE and declare myself as unemployed before applying for ILR and also wondering if this would affect me when i apply for naturalization for bein unemployed for 2yrs...pls i would apppriciate your advice..thanks

Your economic status has no effect on your application for BC. You neeed to be paying tax however, What you can do is to register for tax and do a self assesemant at the end of each financial year so that you can know what amount of tax (if any) to pay.

thanks tonytee,
i decleared to be self employed early 2009 and my initally plan was to set up a car biz as i was financially ok then but few month later wife gave birth since then things changed as she had to bounce back to work few month after givin birth,so i had to be home to look after our baby then i decided to learnin how to trade currency online as its something i can do from home and its tax free but since i started i havent gain any money rather im loosin..my worries now is that havent called hm revenue to tell them or notify them of any changes... my wife claims TC WC and BC and on the form its shows how much she earn and on my part its says self employed earning £0.00...so i was wondering what to fill out on the AN form section 3.1..do you think its would make sense to say home maker or home duties or house husband???since no income is coming in or should i call the HM revenue and notify them of changes before applyin for BC next month...im confuse and would appriciate any advice pls...

Regards
