PLS help regarding extention of student visa

Hello i m ankit and doing my masters in international business from bradford college .Now problem is i lost my indian passport and applied for new one from indian consolate .. when i got new passport i needed to stamp visa on my new passport.. so now i applied for TOC .. in 3 days i got letter from the homeoffice confirming me acceptence of document..after about 2 months i got reply from them asking me for biometric which i attended in shefield in last week of feb .. now problem is that my visa is about to expire on 1st april and i m still studying have to sumbit my dissertation on 6th april. But i dont have passport to apply for extension so what should i do ? wheather i should wait for my passport and then apply for exention .. in that case i m sure i will be over stay ... any suggestion would be very helpful for me ..

1. I wud ring the HO and explain the situation
2. U can apply for the extension and include a letter stating your situation and the letter you received from the HO that they have your passport to transfer the visa.
3. Tier 4 form also asks that if you are unable to provide your passport then explain the reasons.
