Maximum stay outside UK on Tier 1 General

Hello

Just want to know, how long one can stay outside UK on Tier 1 General?
As one of my mate went on holiday in November and still there for some personal reasons. His visa is still valide till Nov 2012 and he wants to come back.

Is there any problem in staying long on this visa?

Looking forward to hear some valuable replies.

He may return anytime while is current leave is valid.

Absences from UK are not relevant when applying for extension. What is relevant is whether he /she will be able to meet the eligibility criteria for extension as and when it is due.
