Tier 1 Visa Job Trails

Post by haribhm » Sat May 28, 2011 11:45 pm

Hi - I have 6 yrs of experience in cognos with a considerably good pay in India. I have a Tier 1 visa valid from March 1 2011 and hence wanted to give it a try, but am reluctant to leave a good job in India as i am not sure how UK market treats me!!..So is there a way i can put my resume in UK JOB Websites and get a job from India and then travel to UK? Does hiring companies and Job agencies show any interest to process my resume if i tell them that i am presently in India? Please provide your thoughts...Any suggestion would be appreciated.

You can post your CV on different recruitment websites in UK e.g. www.monster.co.uk or www.reed.co.uk etc. Some recruitment consultancies specialise in certain sectors e.g. Financial Services or Oil and Gas etc. So you may want to register your details with the agency which specialises in your field. I would also suggest contacting potential employers directly by going on to their website and applying for jobs online and depending on the response you get it may give you a better idea of your worth in the UK job market. Hope this helps.

I have worked for two FTSE 100 companies and in both the companies quite a few Analysts in IT were from India. So i would imagine that there is a good chance that you might be able to secure a job in your profession. Having said that one has to be realistic and like anywhere else in the world you may not be able to get the job you really want straight away. Also since recession the UK job market has been a bit tight in my view. So you may want to do a lot of research before making the final decision especially considering that you are in a good job in India. Best of Luck!
