Maintenance Funds Confusion

Post by adamboston » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:59 am

Dear All

My wife is applying for her student visa extension and we are confused about the amount needs to be shown for maintenance.

My wife will be commencing the final year of her PhD (with Highly Trusted Sponsor). Previously when she applied for extension it was in Aug 2008 (not the PBS Tier 4) and I applied as her dependant. (This time I am applying separately under 10 Years Long Residency rule). Her degree end date is showing as Apr 2013 which is the latest she is required to submit her PhD thesis.

We have read the Tier 4 guidance notes but there is still a confusion over couple of things:

1. My wife's extension is due in August this year but we are not sure how much she needs to show for maintenance. Her current account balance is about £5k plus £2k in my account (from where all the utilities are paid). Is it going to be sufficient for maintenance?

2. In past it used to be 3 months bank statments were required for extension. Are we still required to provide 3 months statement or of last 28 days?

Her tuition fee is paid by her sponsor and she has all the relevant documents to prove the receipt of the funds for her tuition fee.

I am working full time and we live in outer London area.

Thanks in advance.
