Tier 1 Extension as self emplyed and as an employee

Post by Pravan » Tue Jul 05, 2011 4:53 pm

I am currently in UK under Tier1 General Category.
My extension is due very shortly.
I have a few queries regarding the document submission for previous earnings and the points I can claim for Age.

My case is explained below.

I am withdrawing salary from my own business on monthly basis and also have divident vouchers for the earnings.
For the first three quaters I was doing this and then for last quater, I joined as a permenant employee in another company.

Could you please guide me on the documents I need to submit as a proof for my Earning.

Refering the guidlines I assume I need to submit the below documents

1. Payslips
2. Divident Vouchers
3. Letter from Accountant confirming the Income earned, which the gross and net pay forthe period claimed. The letter should give a breakdown of salary, dividends, Tax paid and Dates of net payment
4. Bank statements.
5. Letter from new employer.

1. Do I need to submit any invoices or remittance advice?

2. Do I need to show my company bank statements.

3. Do I need to submit the P60? as i am submitting bank statement , payslip and divident vouchers and letter from Accountant.

4. Do we need to have the dividents shown in P60?

For Age I assume my passport is good enough and Also I assume as mentioned in guidelines , I can claim the same point for Age as my initial application.

For my Bachelors,as mentioned in guidelines I assume I dont need to submit any document as I already submitted this as a part of my initial applocation.

I'm sure you'll have read this already but here is the relevant part from the UKBA website:
It is essential that earnings are corroborated by more than one source, so you must send at least two of the following from different sources as proof of your earnings:

payslips;
personal bank statements;
letter from your employer;
official tax document;
dividend vouchers;
letter from your managing agent or accountant;
invoice explanations or payment summaries;
company or business accounts.

You must send at least two different types of supporting document for each source of earnings claimed. Each piece of supporting evidence must be from a separate source and support all the other evidence so that together they clearly prove the earnings claimed.

For example, when sending documents for salaried employment, you should not send payslips together with a letter from the employer, because we consider both of these documents to be from the same source.

If you are sending a combination of bank statements and a letter/invoice summary from your accountant, you must also provide any invoices generated during the period for which you want to claim earnings.

I'm sure your accountant will be able to help, as will the more experienced posters on here, but I'd say that if in doubt, include it.

Finally dividends don't get shown on a P60, it is an end of tax year statement showing earnings, what PAYE was paid during the year and NI paid in that particular job. It will however provide further proof of your employment earnings.
